Farmworker Health Services, Inc.(FHSI) provides outreach and health education to migrant and seasonal farmworkers. FHSI creates linkages between farmworkers and existing local health care providers. States served include Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Florida. Services provided include health education, referral to primary health care and social services, and case management.

The Indian Health Service (IHS) provides a comprehensive health services delivery system for American Indians and Alaska Natives, with opportunity for maximum tribal involvement in developing and managing programs to meet health needs. The mission of the IHS is to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indians and Alaska Natives to the highest level. The mission of the Intercultural Cancer Council is to develop and promote policies and programs to assist medically underserved minorities, who have a higher incidence of cancer and lower survival rates than the general U.S. population. (This disparity is largely due to delayed diagnosis and less-than-appropriate patient care). Among the populations specifically addressed are African-Americans, American Indians and Alaska Natives, Asian-Americans, Hispanics and Latinos, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders, and the rural poor. The council is working to gain representation of minorities in clinical studies and to develop culturally appropriate health education materials.

The National Asian Women’s Health Organization (NAWHO) designs and implements innovative education programs to end racial and ethnic health disparities. Native American Cancer Research (NACR) aims to reduce cancer incidence and mortality among Native Americans and increase their cancer survival rates. To accomplish this goal, NACR implements programs focused on cancer primary prevention, secondary prevention, risk reduction, early detection, education, training, diagnosis, disease control, treatment, social/emotional support, and quality of life. NACR also conducts studies of cancer among Native Americans. The Native American Cancer Survivor Support Circle gives direct support to Native American cancer patients by providing a telephone support program, culturally relevant survivor resources, and assistance in accessing quality care. The network also provides informational, emotional, and spiritual support for the loved ones of cancer patients. Strategies for Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Among American Indian and Alaska Native Women identifies and describes successful strategies used by tribes and tribal organizations to deliver breast and cervical cancer screening, referral, and follow-up services to American Indian and Alaska Native women.
