Molecular Testing

Cancer is a genetic disease. The progression of a neoplastic clone from a benign to a malignant state is the result of several successive genetic mutations. Molecular diagnostics seeks to detect genetic errors that cause the disease at the molecular level.

These highly sensitive and specific assays are inclusive of restriction digestion, PCR, RT-PCR, sequencing, and point mutation analyses using state-of-the-art technologies to provide the pathologist and oncologist with genetic information about the disease state. A variety of tests is currently available to characterize leukemias, lymphomas, and carcinomas.
